yes there are new hair styles in pets cuz i just got it. in life stories, i don't think there are . i think the hairstyles are same as in the original sims 2. i wouldn't recommend u get life stories because its exactly same as sims 2 except for the directed story mode which makes the game harder to play unless u like that . but i've heard its really annoying. check out the wikipedia.org article about life stories. its really helpful :)
