How do you get different hair styles on the sims?

on videos they have really cool hairstyles. how do u get them? is it a cheat? also is there a cheat to get better clothes?How do you get different hair styles on the sims?
What's great about the Sims is that there's a WHOLE bunch of user customization.





You can do a bunch yourself with the program that came bundled with the Sims 2: called ';The Sims2 Body Shop.'; (Just check in the same folder on the start menu as where your game is located. From there, you can create cool Tshirt, hair-colors, etc. (I attached a quick tutorial to get you started!)





But there are some CRAZY people out there... And I mean ';crazy'; in the best possible way. They are able to put together these things called ';meshes,'; which give you whole new FORMS for your clothes/hair/whatever to be in. I, personally, don't know how to do this. But my favorite site to get custom stuff from is modthesims2.com. I also attached a ';How-To'; link for their site, and if you like it, you can create an account and start downloading from there.





But let me warn you, downloading custom content is HIGHLY addictive. Before you know it, your hard drive could be inundated with user-created Sims 2 content, and you'll have a hard time getting to the stuff that was already in the Sims 2! (haa I know from experience... XD)
