Help with curly hair styling?

I have crazy curly hair, and am trying to figure out how to handle it. I do NOT want to cut it, and am tired of just putting in a headband. I want crunch free curls without frizz, or at least curls that are somewhat defined

1. what products would you recommend

and

2. Any tips or tricks you know?Help with curly hair styling?
If you want to run out and pick something up locally, I recommend trying LA Looks or Herbal essences gels (drugstore); Biotera gel and cream (Sally's Beauty Supply); Suave Naturals/vo5 conditioners (really cheap); Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Condish (semi-cheap but super moisturizing, found at organics/specialty stores); red Cream of Nature shampoo (drugstore again); and L'oreal out of bed weightless texturizer (black tub, use under gel). These are all good things to try, and be sure to tinker around with amounts and how you use any products.

For specific products for your hair type you might also want to explore the forums at:

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products.

Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find ratings by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

*Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Never use a brush on dry hair, only untangle when the hair is wet.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape.

*Use styling products suited for your hair type. Don鈥檛 know yours? http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or t-shirts instead.

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it鈥檚 drying.

*Once dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It鈥檚 pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it鈥檚 so great for curly hair. I bought some moose (tressmee) and I scrunched my hair with it.

It was nice, you can use gel too, and just scrunch it and spray it after.

Don't put too much or else it'll be greasy, blow dry it make it stay that way.
i would maybe just find a good mousse (you have to just keep tryin 'em until you like one) and then get cream stuff that helps with frizz. there's lots of products out there :)

good luck!!
